Impact on your Gut
FODMAP's lead to your gut filling with fluid and gas which can cause digestive symptoms
FODMAP's do not get digested in the small intestine, they pass into the large intestine where they are fermented by bacteria to produce excess wind and bloating, especially in people with IBS. Some FODMAP's can also have an osmotic effect, drawing water into the large intestine and causing loose stools or diarrhoea.
Imagine your intestine as a balloon being filled by water or gas and it is easy to understand why you have abdominal pain, distension, bloating or flatulence.
Alleviates IBS symptoms
Research has proven that 3 out of 4 of patients see an improvement in their IBS symptoms when removing FODMAP's
Most patients see a decrease in bloating, wind, abdominal pain and diarrhoea after being on a low FODMAP diet.
Research has shown that approximately 75% of patients see an improvement is their IBS symptoms.
